Difference between Ripe and Unripe Fruit

It also contains less fructose."   Doctor Richard Johnson MD, Note eat your fruit as unripe as you are able the ripening process converts the carbs to sugars this conversion consumes antioxidants. I have started to like the taste of the less sweet unripe fruit.

"Though fruit has many good vitamins and minerals and is rich in fiber, it is also loaded with sugar. Pineapples are 28 percent sugar, bananas 25, honeydew 21, mangoes 18, apples 15, oranges and cherries 12, strawberries 11, just to name a few."   Robert Young PhD

       

Most Fruits are rich sources of (vitamin C), the flavonoids (See Flavonoid Protocol) that aid its absorption and antioxidants See Antioxidant Protocol in addition to other vitamins, minerals and MANY other healthful substances.  Please remember most of the healthy constituents of the fruit are stored in the seeds and the skin. The seeds must usually be crushed somehow or chewed to release their nutrients. Berries especially dark blue, purple and black are concentrated nutrition. Berries with large amounts of relatively soft easily chewed seeds deliver a nutritional punch, IF you chew or crush and eat the seeds.

Commercial fruit juices See Fruit Juice Protocol are loaded with harmful substances and you should IMO eat the fresh fruit instead. Even home made juice which avoids most of the commercial problems should be limited as it delivers a large amount of sugar in a short time. This is not good unless you are in glucose deficit. The fiber in whole fruit slows the release of glucose. As good as whole nutritious fruits are, vegetables can be much better and should be eaten in vastly greater amounts than fruit. Fruits are often said to be best eaten by themselves and not together with non-fruit proteins, fats and carbs. A large fresh fruit salad is ambrosia.

People with diabetes, pre-diabetes, candida  and some other conditions sensitive to blood sugar may have to restrict high sugar fruits. I usually eat my bananas green for this reason.

To meet our indwelling needs of Vitamin B17 we must either eat the fruit seed in reasonable quantity or begin supplementing our diet with Vitamin B17 tablets. We can't of course, do that at present, but we hope to see before very long Vitamin B17 available so that we can prevent cancer in the same way we prevent scurvy."    Doctor Ernst Krebs on Cancer

Our hybridizing of our fruits has removed vitamin B17 from the flesh of these hybrids. Try to cultivate the native species and get the B17 and other good things back in the flesh of our fruit.

IMO wild food is the most nutritious food available. Often while in the woods you will run across some wild fruit including berries. Please take the opportunity to load up on the goodness these plants offer. Often the wild fruit is NOT as sweet as it's cultivated brethren. This is GOOD; often sugar is bred in as the polyphenols and the goodies are bred out.

Many wild or close to wild berries are resistant to disease and pests and require little care. They require little care because they can take care of themselves. Their powerful antioxidants and other protective substances DEFEAT the bugs and other pests. These same substances will fight the bad guys inside your body.

Buy or transplant inexpensive plants such as aronia, blackberry, crabapple and elderberry in your yard or close to your house. They are nice friends to have around. Make sure they are as little hybridized/genetically modified from the wild as is possible.
