“When our bodies lack Vitamin C, it causes proline to be lost in the urine as there is a net loss of collagen building in the body. Like lysine, proline has a high affinity for Lp(a) and therefore able to dissolve plaque. It is said to be even stronger than lysine in this action. It not only prevents further build-up of atherosclerotic deposits, it also helps to release already deposited fat globules from the blood vessel walls into the blood stream.”  Doctor Michael Lam MD, Note yet another reason to get your daily at least 3 grams of vitamin C; this dissolving of arterial plaque cannot proceed until your vitamin C levels are adequate enough to allow it

Please do not think in today's nutrition depleted world this is always an easy task. Please remember many of us exist right on the edge of the functional survey. Without Vitamin C and a few other goodies, there can be NO collagen production.

Collagen is the chief protein that holds your body together, accounting for about one third of our body proteins and 75% of skin proteins. We are constantly required to build new collagen. Collagen fibers are the dominant fiber type in most connective tissues and are found in arteries, Skin, tendons, ligaments, cartilage,  teeth and bones. Got a bum knee? Research collagen.

Inadequate collagen production is often a major player in serious disease. For example much of  Cardiovascular Disease and atherosclerosis can be traced back to inadequate arterial repair due to a lack of collagen production often because of inadequate vitamin C levels. Please make sure you are getting plenty of everything required and helpful for your continuous more than adequate Collagen production. 

     

Water and your Connective Tissue (much of it Collagen)

"Vitamin C is required for strong collagen.  How does this work? Vitamin C is required for lysyl hydroxylase, an enzyme responsible for attaching the lysine residues together on adjacent collagen strands. Vitamin C is required in large amounts, perhaps as much as 50 times our silly RDA, to make collagen promptly. If you get too little vitamin C, as Doctor Linus Pauling says MOST of us do, you will have a weak tissue and body connective structure as collagen is required to construct a strong body. You will also likely have the clogged arteries that begin most CVD.

    

Silicon and Collagen
