Life Extension: Prediabetes Should Be Classified as Diabetes

Diabetes Cases by Age Group

A vivid example of why there may be no difference in prediabetes versus type II diabetes can be seen in a study involving 1,800 people over a 10-year period.49 This study found that coronary heart disease risk was similar between prediabetics and type II diabetics. The authors commented that impaired fasting glucose significantly increased coronary risk in comparison with the normal glucose group. The researchers concluded:

“Early control of blood glucose is essential to prevention and control of CHD [coronary heart disease].”49

When I was a kid what is today called type 2 diabetes was called SUGAR diabetes. Why was this change in name made? Please allow me to revert to the old name. I do this because until refined sugar was invented there was NO type 2 diabetes or as it should be called SUGAR diabetes.

Sugar diabetes the so-called Adult Onset Diabetes; we are seeing it in seven year olds; is mostly caused by poor health choices, poisons in our food supply (See Poisons In Our Food Supply Protocol) and an FDA (See FDA Protocol) and government that are not doing their jobs. Diabetes can be totally reversed without toxic drugs for most people. Even if you do not fear Diabetes you may want to follow this protocol, as everything here will enhance your life and will obviate MANY problems.

As you will have noted if you read the research paragraphs above there are literally hundreds of things you can do to improve the odds of NEVER HAVING SUGAR DIABETES PROBLEMS. It may at first seem overwhelming to imagine including all these salubrious habits, foods and supplements in your life. Just take it one simple step at a time. Start anywhere you wish, say sugar; you intuitively know sugar is bad for your health but as you read the sugar research and view sugar’s ties to hundreds of KNOWN health problems your resolve to avoid sugar will be strengthened. Sugar will tie in hundreds of steps which logically follow your strengthening decision to eliminate sugar from your life.

Since so many health problems stem from diabetes the web of actions required to avoid it is also great. The good part is in avoiding diabetes you will also be avoiding MANY other health problems in large part; when you address these problems you will find much of the work you must do to avoid these problems has already been done.

An Approach for all of Diabetes

No matter what Type of Diabetes you have insulin is your enemy; you want less of it in your body. Actually this holds for all of us diabetic, prediabetic or non-diabetic. Everyone needs to minimize his insulin. The following strategy will cause you to produce way less insulin than the standard diet.

Get Down to Weight

“Weight loss in Type 2 diabetics induces a dramatic increase in insulin sensitivity. A weight loss of 20% produces an increase of more than double in insulin sensitivity.”   Note this is HUGE

Yes this is very difficult for most of us BUT it will so improve your health it has to be worth it. This can DOUBLE or TRIPPLE your insulin sensitivity and means you have to produce WAY less insulin.

Eat More Good FAT:

Fat requires NO insulin to digest and process. Forget the propaganda about fat being bad for you; IT IS NOT. Learn to tell the difference between the good and bad fats; shoot IMO for 50% of you calories in GOOD FAT. Fat keeps hunger away and allows you to pass up that SUGAR donut and other sweet treats which cause your insulin to SURGE. Fat supplies slow constant energy that allows your body not to crave SUGAR.

Do NOT Eat Sugar or Simple Carbs

Yes this is hyperbole but you get the picture. Both sugar and simple carbs can be almost eliminated if you are diligent enough. Is it easy; NO.

Make Sure your Vitamin D Levels are at Least 80 ng/ml or Better

“A 2001 Finnish study found that children given 2,000 IU of vitamin D daily in their first year of life cut their risk of getting juvenile diabetes by 80 per cent over their next 31 years.”  Hyppopen et al Lancet 2001

"Researchers conducted genetic analysis and found that vitamin D interacts with genes for such diseases as rheumatoid arthritis, type 1 diabetes, and multiple sclerosis as well as colorectal cancer. Deficiency in the vitamin was linked to development of the diseases.”   Genome Research

Vitamin D if KEY to the reading of your genome and MANY diseases. This includes all forms of diabetes.

Eat Cinnamon with all Sugar and Simple Carbs

"The factor found in cinnamon that is responsible for the diabetes advantage is MHCP. Researchers found that MHCP stimulated glucose uptake and glycogen synthesis in a similar fashion as insulin."   Life Extension

Cinnamon can substitute for insulin; thus you produce less insulin. Carry around a small 1 or 2 ounce container of cinnamon and sprinkle a little in any sugar or simple carbs you may be eating on the road. You do not need a lot just a little.

Take Chromium Supplements

"While we don't know the exact chromium content of many of the World's Healthiest Foods, it appears that our strategy of eating—based around minimally processed and plant-rich meals with liberal use of spices—would be expected to ensure a consistent supply of this mineral."    WHF Chromium

Even though if you eat right you will PROBABLY get sufficient chromium, I supplement  a gram or two from time to time just to make sure. IMO if you are at all concerned about diabetes you should supplement a gram or two a day for at least a few months.
