“L-arginine is an
essential amino acid that is present in many foods and it is also a precursor
of Nitric Oxide production. Studies have shown that arginine, when taken in
proper amounts, can stimulate NO production. In a 1999 study, 30 impotent men
were given 1500 mg of arginine each per day. It was shown that is worked no
better than the placebo in terms of vasodilatation and sexual performance.
However, when 21 men with mild to moderate impotence were given 3,000mg a day

L-Arginine is an amino acid (See Amino Acid Protocol) present in the proteins of all life forms. It is classified as a semi-essential or conditionally essential amino acid. This means that under normal circumstances your body can synthesize sufficient L-Arginine to meet physiological demands. Some stress conditions that put an increased demand on the body for the synthesis of L-Arginine include trauma (including surgical trauma), sepsis and burns. Under these conditions, L-Arginine becomes essential, and it is then very important to ensure adequate dietary intake of the amino acid to meet the increased physiological demands created by these situations. L-Arginine may also have wound-repair activity. As we age often our utilization of L-Arginine becomes less efficient resulting in less nitric oxide production than is required for robust good health. L-Arginine supplementation may provide a powerful assist for us aging athletes. I believe this is my situation. Although I eat LOTS of L-Arginine food sources I often supplement.
Doses of about 5 - 10 grams of L-Arginine have been found to be effective for various applications, while some recommend a daily maintenance dose of 2 grams. I often take 5 -10 grams of L-Arginine. I take supplemental (See Supplement Protocol) L-Arginine with my HGH Protocol (See HGH Protocol). As with all amino acids, take L-Arginine on an empty stomach with some whey.
Caution: L-Arginine should only be taken by healthy non-pregnant non-lactating adults. See your doctor if in doubt. Always take L-Arginine with lots of antioxidants. If you have frequent herpes outbreaks you should research the relationship between L-Arginine and herpes, L-Arginine seems to encourage herpes outbreaks.
