Lentil Protocol

    

Lentils may be the Healthiest CARB you can eat.

     

"Apples contain catechins which are also found in green tea, grapes and lentils and are thought to be responsible for many of its wide-ranging anti-cancer, cardioprotective, detoxification-enhancing and immune-supportive effects."   Doctor Al Sears MD

"Lentils comprise a large part of the Mediterranean diet and are a good source of fiber, B vitamins—and, of course, polyphenols. Extracts made from lentils have been found to prevent high blood pressure induced by the hormone angiotensin-II, a vessel-constricting signaling molecule. This action helps protect against arterial narrowing."   Note here is a DIRT Cheap polyphenol, if you cook the lentils just a little it will slow the digestion and not bring on the carb rapid sugar release syndrome. Lentils have become my go to carb.

“As the name implies, green leafy vegetables (or foliage) are among the best sources of folate. Spinach, turnip greens, bok choy, parsley, and romaine lettuce are all rated by our system as excellent sources of folate. Other vegetables can be strong sources as well, and we see asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli and beets join the excellent group. We also see a number of the legumes do very well for this nutrient. At the top of the list here are lentils, which achieve a rating of "excellent" for folate. In fact, among all WHFoods, lentils rank “as our best source of folate! Lentils, and sesame seeds are just a few examples of World's Healthiest Foods rich in both iron and copper."   WHF Copper   Note eating foods rich in BOTH iron and copper is a great way to go, just make sure to balance your zinc

Lentils are a super salubrious food that should IMO play an important part in your diet. Most of us like a good satisfying CARB once in a while. We know simple carbs are a NO, NO, so what do you eat? Bread, pasta, pizza, not unless you make them yourself or are fortunate to be able to purchase healthy versions. Lentils cooked a little underdone IMO can supply this need for a super nutritious carb,

Polyphenols are a hot nutrient these days and many supplements and foods that contain polyphenols are expensive. A 25 pound sack of lentils costs about 20 bucks; in terms of polyphenols the bargain of a life time which I purchase often.

Lentils can serve as a replacement for pasta; try it.
