As you can see Lentils are LOADED with Nutrients

"Lentils, a small but nutritionally mighty member of the legume family, are a very good source of cholesterol-lowering fiber. Not only do lentils help lower cholesterol, they are of special benefit in managing blood-sugar disorders since their high fiber content prevents blood sugar levels from rising rapidly after a meal. But this is far from all lentils have to offer. Lentils also provide good to excellent amounts of seven important minerals, our B-vitamins, and protein—all with virtually no fat. The calorie cost of all this nutrition? Just 230 calories for a whole cup of cooked lentils. This tiny nutritional giant fills you up—not out."   WHF Lentils   Note: Packed with nutrition and low cal is what the game is all about

"Apples contain catechins which are also found in green tea, grapes and lentils and are thought to be responsible for many of its wide-ranging anti-cancer, cardioprotective, detoxification-enhancing and immune-supportive effects."   Doctor Al Sears MD   Note Lentils promote the all important Nrf2 Process

"Lentils comprise a large part of the Mediterranean diet and are a good source of fiber, B vitamins—and, of course, polyphenols. Extracts made from lentils have been found to prevent high blood pressure induced by the hormone angiotensin-II, a vessel-constricting signaling molecule. This action helps protect against arterial narrowing."   Note here is a DIRT Cheap polyphenol, if you cook the lentils just a little it will slow the digestion and not bring on the carb rapid sugar release syndrome. Lentils have become my go to carb.

“As the name implies, green leafy vegetables (or foliage) are among the best sources of folate. Spinach, turnip greens, bok choy, parsley, and romaine lettuce are all rated by our system as excellent sources of folate. Other vegetables can be strong sources as well, and we see asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli and beets join the excellent group. We also see a number of the legumes do very well for this nutrient. At the top of the list here are lentils, which achieve a rating of "excellent" for folate. In fact, among all WHFoods, lentils rank “as our best source of folate! Rating "very good" as sources of folate are garbanzo beans, navy beans, kidney beans, and pinto beans."    Folate

"Copper plays two key roles in energy production. First, it helps with incorporation of iron into red blood cells, preventing anemia. Second, it is involved with generation of energy from carbohydrates inside of cells. Each of these uses of copper also requires iron, and for this reason, the symptoms of copper deficiency can mimic those of low iron intake. Lentils, and sesame seeds are just a few examples of World's Healthiest Foods rich in both iron and copper."   WHF Copper   Note eating foods rich in BOTH iron and copper is a great way to go, just make sure to balance your zinc

"Some good natural sources of molybdenum include legumes such as beans, lentils and peas, wheat germ, buckwheat, barley, sunflower seeds, and dark green leafy vegetables. Another good source is liver, but in animal products, it is usually present in poor amounts. It can be found in water in varying amounts as well."   The Health Benefits of Molybdenum

"So skip the rye, insoluble fiber supplements, laxatives, enemas and everything else they throw your way. Instead, get some more soluble fiber in your diet from natural sources like barley, oatmeal and lentils.”   Doctor William Douglass MD

“Foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, noodles, sugars, and breakfast cereals are rapidly digested, which rapidly increases blood sugar that stimulates insulin release. Blood sugar then quickly drops resulting in a repeating cycle of hunger and eating—leading to obesity, insulin resistance, and type II diabetes. By contrast, split peas, lentils, black beans, artichokes, raspberries, rolled oats, and other foods high in fiber or resistant starch are very slowly digested and have important health benefits.119”   The Microbiome Of Aging And Age-Related Disease Conference

"Lentils are seeds that grow in pods, and are a part of the legume family of foods, which also includes peanuts, beans, peas, and chickpeas. They come in a variety of shapes and colors and are a staple in the cuisine of Asia and the Middle East. Often eaten in soups, salads, and stews, lentils are a remarkably nutritious food and it’s a good idea to include them in a healthy diet regimen due to their numerous health benefits."    Lentils

"Forget the beef! Lentils are one of the best foods for your health (not to mention your budget). They’re especially great for your bones since they contain iron, protein, B vitamins, and plentiful amounts of boron! They’re also a good source of magnesium, potassium, and are fat and cholesterol-free. Best of all, they’re packed with fiber to keep you full and stave off hunger for hours. This lentil loaf is a great recipe to try if you’re looking for a hearty replacement to your regular meatloaf recipes."   The Benefits of Boron

Lentils are a super salubrious food that should IMO play an important part in your diet. Most of us like a good satisfying CARB once in a while. We know simple carbs are a NO, NO, so what do you eat? Bread, pasta, pizza, not unless you make them yourself or are fortunate to be able to purchase healthy versions. Lentils cooked a little underdone IMO can supply this need for a super nutritious carb,

Polyphenols are a hot nutrient these days and many supplements and foods that contain polyphenols are expensive. A 25 pound sack of lentils costs about 20 bucks; in terms of polyphenols the bargain of a life time which I purchase often.

Lentils can serve as a replacement for pasta; try it.

Lentil Benefits

"In a study that examined food intake patterns and risk of death from coronary heart disease, researchers followed more than 16,000 middle-aged men in the U.S., Finland, The Netherlands, Italy, former Yugoslavia, Greece and Japan for 25 years. Typical food patterns were: higher consumption of dairy products in Northern Europe; higher consumption of meat in the U.S.; higher consumption of vegetables, legumes, fish, and wine in Southern Europe; and higher consumption of cereals, soy products, and fish in Japan. When researchers analyzed this data in relation to the risk of death from heart disease, they found that legumes were associated with a whopping 82% reduction in risk!! "   WHF Lentils   Note HOW can you ignore this!

"Lentils' contribution to heart health lies not just in their fiber, but in the significant amounts of folate and magnesium these little wonders supply. Folate helps lower levels of homocysteine, an amino acid that is an intermediate product in an important metabolic process called the methylation cycle. When folate (as well as vitamin B6) are around, homocysteine is immediately converted into cysteine or methionine, both of which are benign. When these B vitamins are not available, levels of homocysteine increase in the bloodstream—a bad idea since homocysteine damages artery walls and is considered a serious risk factor for heart disease. "   WHF Lentils

"Lentils' magnesium puts yet another plus in the column of its beneficial cardiovascular effects. Magnesium is Nature's own calcium channel blocker. When enough magnesium is around, veins and arteries breathe a sigh of relief and relax, which lessens resistance and improves the flow of blood, oxygen and nutrients throughout the body. Studies show that a deficiency of magnesium is not only associated with heart attack but that immediately following a heart attack, lack of sufficient magnesium promotes free radical injury to the heart. Want to literally keep your heart happy? Eat lentils."    WHF Lentils

Lentils a Good Source of Iron

"Copper plays two key roles in energy production. First, it helps with incorporation of iron into red blood cells, preventing anemia. Lentils a Good Source of Silicon

Image result for Silicon Rich Foods

"The benefits of silica are many. In today's grains, there is actually a shortage of silica. Years ago, the silica found in our foodstuffs was adequate, but with today's hybrids and depleted soils, only about 1/3 of the silica needed is supplied in our food. Diatomaceous Earth is a simple and inexpensive way to get the silica your body needs."

Lentils a Good Source of Molybdenum

Image result for molybdenum food sources

"Some good natural sources of molybdenum include legumes such as beans, lentils and peas, wheat germ, buckwheat, barley, sunflower seeds, and dark green leafy vegetables.
