MSM Protocol

   

MSM is a supplement no one should be without.

   

“There is minimum concentration of MSM that must be maintained to preserve normal body function and structure. In addition to its detoxifying potential MSM for allergy, hyperactivity, cancer prevention, and inflammation” Prater, 1999

"CFS pain relief from MSM can be significant, particularly at 6 to 9 grams a day. This applies to most any pain, because most pain is toxicity related. Some of the pain relief accounts are pretty impressive. It's typical to hear at 6 grams, nothing, 8 grams, no relief, then suddenly at 10 grams the pain is gone. There seems to be a threshold you have to reach and then boom. The threshold will vary from person to person. I encourage patients to work gradually up to 9 grams.” Doctor Paul Cheney

Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane is a biological form of sulfur (See Sulfur Protocol) found in all plants, soils, fruits, vegetables and meats. In order to get the most MSM from food, the food should be either raw or as close to raw as possible.

Sulfur is required for many of our body’s detoxification processes and is a major component of glutathione (See Glutathione Protocol), methionine, cysteine and NAC (See NAC Protocol). If you are low on sulfur you may  have trouble clearing toxins from your body. Sulfur is VERY important for MANY reasons and IMO it will pay you big dividends to assure you have it in sufficient quantity; this is where MSM comes in as an insurance.

Food refining and processing removes MSM from raw food much the way it reduces vitamin and mineral levels. MSM is easily destroyed with cooking and a lot of it dissipates fairly rapidly, especially after fruits and vegetables are picked and stored. Sulfur is required for life. MSM can cross the blood-brain harrier and supplies sulfur for collagen (See Collagen Protocol) and insulin (See Insulin Protocol) production.

Even though I eat mostly fresh I try to take at least 3 grams of MSM most days. After coming back from a hike I always take 6 grams of MSM every day for 5 to10 days to eliminate any giardia (See Parasite Protocol) or other parasites I may have ingested in the woods by drinking the mineral rich water unfiltered.

MSM is used for

   

MSM Dosage

  • A daily maintenance dose is usually about 3 grams. 

  • For specific conditions between 5 and 10 grams a day is often used

  • Be careful using over 10 grams a day. The MSM itself will not harm you; however if you are seriously toxic and low on sulfur the MSM may pull too many toxins into your blood at one time and your liver and kidneys may get overloaded trying to process and eliminate them.
