Stress Protection and Treatment Protocol
“An individual who is prone to
anger is about three times more likely to suffer a heart attack or
sudden
cardiac death as someone who is least prone to anger.” Williams et al, Note get mad but laugh
about it
“Higher levels of
homocysteine are associated with feelings of aggression and rage in both men
and women.” Stoney et al “Violent behavior in young men appears to
be linked to an imbalance in the relationship of copper and zinc.” William
Walsh, Ph.D. “The first step towards redressing some of the ills of civilized life—from depression to road rage, from cavities to osteoporosis—would be to get more light, inside or outside. Vitamin D adds sunlight to life from childhood through the golden years.” Krispin Sullivan, CN “Whether in the form of sunlight or dietary vitamin D from food
and fish oils, optimal levels of the sunshine vitamin allow your body and mind
to thrive, even during periods of stress.” Krispin Sullivan, CN “Insulin,
blood sugar, and cortisone all cause increased secretion of DHEA into urine.
Prolonged stress, which may raise insulin, blood sugar and cortisol, eventually
leads to low DHEA blood levels.”
Doctor Norman Shealy “The blood level of cholesterol usually remains normal, (that is, below 200 units) except when total stress produces blocks to the usual metabolic pathways in which cholesterol is used to make various healthy homeostatic (balancing) hormones. In general, under stress, testosterone, estrogen, and even thyroid hormones decrease while cholesterol increases.” Doctor Norman Shealy “DHEA is a major marker
for age and health. Its major effect in a coping person is anti-stress, meaning
that the increased cortisone produced by stress is subsequently normally
brought back down to baseline by a rise in DHEA.” Doctor Norman Shealy “Regular exercise may be the
most powerful natural antidepressant available.” Murray & Pizzorno “Much of the
mood-elevating effect of exercise may be attributed to the elevation of mood-elevating
endorphins by exercise.” Carr
et al “Decreases in DHEA levels has been linked
to a number of chronic and degenerative diseases including cancer, coronary
artery disease, depression, stress disorders and neurological dysfunctioning.” Straub et
al “The single most important step you can take to improve your
aging mind is to reduce your cortisol levels by lowering your stress.” “Simply eliminating coffee
can often result in complete relief from the symptoms of anxiety and panic
attacks. This recommendation may seem too simple to be valid but substantial
clinical evidence indicates that in many cases it is all that is necessary.” Murray & Pizzorno, Note this is sure a
good place to start in any case ”The caffeine in your
morning coffee is confirmed to put you in a state of sustained stress,
affecting both blood pressure and heart rate all through the day.” "Reducing cholesterol
in the population on a large scale could lead to a general shift to more violent
patterns of behavior. Most of this increased violence would not result in death
but in more aggression at work and in the family, more child abuse, more
wife-beating and generally more unhappiness." Professor David Horrobin Oxford “Ashwagandha counters
some of the oxidative damage generated by nervous tension. Ashwagandha has been
shown to confer perceptible improvements of promoting a sense of well being and
a healthy mental outlook. In a large human clinical trial ashwagandha reduced
the hormone cortisol by up to 26% while helping to maintain healthy blood
sugar. Study subject reported improvements in energy, sleep and wellbeing as
well as diminished fatigue.” Life Extension “Adrenal
fatigue is commonly caused by chronic stress from any source (including
emotional, physical, mental, or environmental) that exceeds the body's capacity
to adjust appropriately to the demands placed on it by the stress. Adrenal glands can be restored to optimum health naturally by
adhering to healthy living principals. Proper rest, together with specific
nutritional diets and removal of stressors are key components to adrenal
fatigue recovery. The road to adrenal recovery is not a linear or
straightforward path because of the complexity of our internal hormonal and
stress-regulation system. Most people
who suffer from adrenal fatigue also have multiple endocrine imbalances
including sub-clinical hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, and estrogen
dominance.” Doctor Michael Lam MD “These four primary things --
exercising, addressing emotional stress, eating right, and getting regular sun
exposure -- will make you feel at the top of your game. Whether you want to
overcome depression or just want to stay healthy, these are the lifestyle
changes that will get you there.”
"In this study, scientists started by restraining a group of mice. Physical restraint of an animal induces stress. The stress promotes lipid peroxidation in their liver. Lipid peroxidation is biochemical damage to cells. After 18 hours of restraint, the researchers checked their blood levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT). Higher levels of ALT indicate serious liver damage. All of the mice had ALT levels indicative of liver damage. That's not all. The stress reduced the ability of their blood to neutralize toxic free radicals. Then the researchers fed the animals bilberry extract. The extract had incredible results. It improved their oxidative stress. And they had smaller rises in ALT than those mice that didn't eat bilberry. Moreover, a key chemical marker of damage, malondialdehyde, a byproduct of cellular damage, was significantly lower in the bilberry supplemented groups. Now here's a real pearl. Restraining the animals caused them to have much lower levels of vitamin C (173 mcg per gm) in their tissues compared to non-restrained animals (400 mcg per gm). After they ate the bilberry, their levels rose sharply to 347 and 451 respectively.” Doctor Robert Rowen MD "Ginkgo biloba is an amazing plant it contains three powerful flavonoids that help in the fight against stress. Quercetin, kaempferol, and isorhamnetine. Studies have proven it’s a great stress reliever because it helps improve the ratio of cortisol to DHEA." Doctor Al Sears MD "Our stress hormones are made out of
cholesterol in the body. Stressful situations increase our blood cholesterol
levels because cholesterol is being sent to the adrenal glands for stress
hormone production. Apart from that, when we are under stress, a storm of free
radicals and other damaging biochemical reactions occur in the blood. So the
liver works hard to produce and send out as much cholesterol as possible to deal
with the free radical attack.”
Stress is a VERY important part of
your life "A new study out of Some stress
is required to have a full life but continuous unwarranted stress is a killer.
Some stress triggers are external in nature and we can do little about the
external; it is the internal response to the external and internal triggers we
can control. Nature designed us to be stressed but then to RELAX.
"There are many well-established functions of vitamin C that help in the handling of stress. When stressed, the higher mammals can augment these functions by this feedback mechanism. For the higher primates, including humans, ascorbate can amount to the MISSING STRESS HORMONE (4)." Doctor Robert Cathcart MD
“Whether in the form of sunlight or dietary vitamin D from food and fish
oils, optimal levels of the sunshine vitamin allow your body and mind to
thrive, even during periods of stress.”
Krispin Sullivan,
CN
