"The researchers, from the Hanyang University in Seoul, matched 50 men and women with acute nonfatal myocardial infarction (heart attack) with 50 age and gender-matched controls who did not have a history of heart attack. Red blood cells were analyzed for levels of trans-fatty acids (undesirable fatty acids found in partially hydrogenated vegetable oil), and the beneficial omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) (found in fish and the algae they feed on). The omega-3 fatty acid index, which is the sum of red blood cell EPA and DHA, was significantly lower in heart attack patients compared with controls, while total trans-fatty acids were significantly higher. Those whose omega-3 fatty acid index was among the top third of participants had a 92 percent lower risk of heart attack than those whose levels were in the lowest third. For those whose total trans-fatty acids were in the top third, the risk of heart attack was 72.67 percent higher than subjects in the lowest third.  The authors note that omega-3 fatty acids are associated with decreased blood viscosity, and have anti-inflammatory, anti-thrombotic, anti-arrhythmic, lipid lowering and vasodilatory effects. Conversely, trans-fatty acids have been associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease.”

"Harvard University researchers looked at 12 dietary, lifestyle and metabolic risk factors such as tobacco smoking and high blood pressure and used a mathematical model to determine how many fatalities could have been prevented if better practices had been observed. The study, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Association of Schools of Public Health, drew on 2005 data from the U.S. National Health Center for Health Statistics. They determined that there were 72,000-96,000 preventable deaths each year due to omega-3 deficiency, compared to 63,000-97,000 for high trans fat intake.”

Researchers found that among nearly 87,000 U.S. women followed for 26 years, trans fat intake was linked to an increased risk of sudden cardiac death among women who had underlying coronary heart disease. Since we eat so much Junk food well over half the oil we as a nation eat contains Transfats. Our fast food, processed food, snack food and junk food all has transfats. Is it any wonder we are a sick nation?

Transfats, often called partly hydrogenated or hydrogenated, are manmade fats created at very high temperatures. Transfats are created from a polyunsaturated, inexpensive oil often soybean or corn oil, both of which are now the deadly GMO, by saturating it with hydrogen molecules at high temperature. The resulting manmade fat has many benefits for the food manufacturer and fast food industry. It will almost never spoil; it can sit on a store shelf for years and can be used in a deep fryer to fry anything for years. Almost all Fast Food (See Fast Food Protocol) is made with Transfat and/or sugar. Foods labeled “No Transfats” may contain up to .5 grams of transfats per "portion"; often dozens of "portions" in a few ounces. Our laws are great. If it is processed food, has fat in it and sits on a shelf it probably contains transfats.

It takes several hours heat of over 482 F to create a Transfat. Usually this is done in the factories that create margarines and other man made solid fats, usually from liquid cheap vegetable oils. But you can create some of these trans fats in your deep fryer or even in a very hot skillet. This is one reason deep fried foods are so dangerous; they can create transfats. If you want to fry up a nice piece of meat in your skillet, as do I on occasion, please do it at medium or lower heat.

There are numerous problems for the poor soul ingesting this mostly man-made poison. Transfats are in some mostly processed meat and dairy products. It may sit undigested in your body for years, just as it will on the grocery shelf. Transfats often replace the good omega 3 and omega 6 EFAs in critical body structures; this can be disastrous as the Transfats do not possess the functionality of the omega EFAs. Transfats often make your omega EFAs much less productive. Please replace the deadly transfats with healthy saturated fat  when possible, for example butter in place of margarine.

 

Transfat Negative Effects

The bottom line is IMO Transfats will kill you slowly

It may take twenty or thirty years to do it. Your body was not designed to eat plastic (See Plastic Protocol) and Transfats are one chemical step from being plastic. Transfats lower HDL (See HDL Protocol) and raise LDL. And they also raise triglycerides. Three strikes and you are OUT! Please learn to identify the “foods” which contain Transfats. Many processed foods contain transfats. A key identifier is to look for a product containing fat which can sit on the store shelf for days, weeks and if need be months and years. This fat is most often a Transfat; it has to be, decent oils will spoil unless they are healthy saturated fats. Many processed animal products also contain transfats.

Since we eat so much Junk food well over half the oil we as a nation eat is Transfat. This is but one more reason to avoid Junk food. Margarine and Shortening are also Transfats.

 

Good News on Transfats

The good news is that the omega EFAs (See Omega EFA Protocol) will quickly, in a few weeks, drive the transfats out of your body if you bring the good natural EFAs into your life and diet and stop eating the transfats.
