Vitamin K Protocol

Vitamin K2 is a Key Supplement    you need to supplement or STRONGLY ASSURE K2

Assuring your vitamin K1 and vitamin K2 needs is a KEY, little known, task we all have. Take a little time to do this.

Vitamin K, both K1 and K2, is Preventative Medicine at its finest. You spend a few bucks to assure this essential substance in your body. You rarely visit the "doctor"; you do not take toxic "drugs";  you do not visit the "hospital; you live long and prosper. Save bucks; save your health and life; prevent problems; rarely "treat" problems.

   

What is Pathological Calcification?      

"Vitamin K2 provides major protection from osteoporosis, cardiovascular blockages and pathological calcification. Vitamin K's job is to put calcium in the right places and keep it from being deposited in the wrong places. The right places are bones and blood, and the wrong places include calcification of the vessels, bone spurs and calcification of soft tissues. It has been shown that calcium has a ubiquitous role in health, impacting on essentially all the Syndrome X conditions and diseases, which include obesity, blood pressure disorders, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and malfunctioning of cell signaling. Calcification of the arteries is a major known consequence of aging, as is the calcification of soft tissues and the accumulation of calcium intracellularly (within the cells)."   Low Vitamin K Intake as a Risk Factor for Cardiovascular Disease   Note make sure you understand this very important process of Pathological Calcification. This Protocol can do this IF you spend a little time ingesting it. Note once again AGING is NOT the cause of all these problems. The problem is EATING

“Vitamins and minerals are not functionally separable. They make each other work. Example: vitamin D is necessary for the body to absorb calcium. Copper is necessary for vitamin C activity. “It is probable that deficiency of vitamin K, particularly that of menaquinone-7(MK-7) is one of the risk factors for osteoporosis.” Kaneki et al

“We found that bone-building compounds and the bone-forming activity of osteobalsts all increased significantly in the presence of MK-7. MK-7 may have a preventive role for bone deterioration with aging.” Yamaguchi et al

“In a study of elderly female rats MK-7 was found to prevent drops in the bone forming compounds and to inhibit the activity of bone-eroding compounds.” Tsukamoto

Vitamin K - Not Just for Clotting Anymore

“Female rats given ovariectomies and thus unprotected by hormones from bone loss were fed a diet rich in MK-4 and MK-7. It was found that MK-7 and not MK-4 prevented loss of bone.” Yamaguchi et al   Note this tells me those over 40 or so should assure their MK-7

“Unlike vitamin K1 which does not accumulate in the body, MK-7 has a half life of three and one half days and will build up in the blood over time, establishing higher concentrations.” Howard & Payne, Note just the thing for those with bone problems or calcified arteries and other soft tissue, IOW MOST of us.

“In bones vitamin K (K1 and K2) plays a role in the production of the proteins osteocalcin and matrix Gla protein (MGP). MGP not only is a contributor to bone matrix formation but it also is a potent inhibitor of calcification of arteries and cartilage. There is in fact evidence that when vitamin K levels fall below a certain critical level MGP is not generated in sufficient quantities to prevent arterial calcification.” Howard & Payne   Note MGP keeps calcium from invading arteries and other soft baldy parts

"Vitamin K2 protects against soft tissue calcification, which is a factor involved in tissue “stiffening” that [usually] occurs with normal aging. This may be the first study to show a reversal of these clinical measures of arterial stiffness using this long-acting form of vitamin K2. Arterial Pathological Calcification   Note here we see the calcium that has built up in the middle layer of an artery. This calcium should NOT be there and presents endless problems and a shortened life. This calcium is the result of Arteriosclerosis and MUST be reversed and removed or you will be stuck in front of the propaganda tube FAR too early in life.

Eat a little butter or other good fat (See Fat Protocol) with your vegetables to absorb the fat-soluble vitamin K. Good Digestion and probiotic care encourages your intestines to manufacture vitamin K2. DRUGS destroy your microbiome which produces vitamin K2; DO NOT TAKE DRUGS.

Antibiotic drugs (See Antibiotics Protocol) and chlorinated and or fluoridated water wipe out your intestinal flora, which are the source of the vitamin K2 made by your body. Butter, cheese, liver, eggs and Natto contain vitamin K2. Natto especially is a super source of vitamin K2. IMO have a few ounces of natto or Goose Liver at least twice a week, to insure your Vitamin K2.

I eat all the sources of vitamin K1 and K2 often. I take drugs NEVER. I filter my drinking water to exclude chlorine and fluoride.

Green leafy vegetables, brussel sprouts, cauliflower and broccoli are good sources of vitamin K1. Kale is the king of vitamin K1, one cup has 547 micrograms of Vitamin K1 (684% DV), 34 calories.  

Getting a LOT of vitamin K1 is going to help improve your vitamin K2 status; the question is is vitamin K1 ENOUGH without some good sources of vitamin K2? IMO NO.

Healthline on How to get Vitamin K2

There is currently no recommendation on how much vitamin K2 you should be eating. It is best to try to incorporate a variety of vitamin K2-rich foods into your diet.

Below are some tips on how to do this.

  • Try natto: Natto is a fermented food that is extremely high in vitamin K2. Some people don’t like the taste, but if you can stomach it, your K2 intake will skyrocket.
  • Eat more eggs: Eggs are fairly good sources of vitamin K2 that can easily be added to your daily breakfast.
  • Eat certain cheeses: Fermented cheeses, such as Jarlsberg, Edam, Gouda, cheddar and blue cheese, contain vitamin K2 formed by the bacteria used during their production.
  • Consume dark meat chicken: The dark meat of chicken, such as leg and thigh meat, contains moderate amounts of vitamin K2 and may be better absorbed than the K2 found in chicken breasts.

     

  • Goose Liver (Braunschweiger)    A great food source of Vitamin K2, all it takes is a few ounces/week or so

  • Butter

  • Cheese   Fermented cheeses, such as Munster, Jarlsberg, Edam, Gouda, Cheddar and Blue Cheese,

Although vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin, unlike other fat-soluble vitamins it does not accumulate in your body and its stores are rapidly depleted without regular dietary intake or its production in our intestine. Most of our Vitamin K2 is the K2 manufactured in our intestines, so we need to protect and encourage these good bacteria (See Probiotics Protocol).

K2 specifically keeps calcium and phosphorus out of the arteries and other soft tissues, and may help reverse the effects of heart-unfriendly diets. Vitamin K is not toxic in high doses. Vitamin K is an anti-inflammatory (See Inflammation Protocol) and strongly antioxidant. Vitamin K protects against many forms of arthritis.

Can Your Body Convert Vitamin K1 to Vitamin K2 OR Internally Create K2 in Sufficient Amounts?

Our findings suggest that MK-4, a transcriptional regulator of steroid and xenobiotic receptor-mediated signaling (23) as well as a cofactor for GGCX, is not simply a dietary nutrient, but should be regarded as an active form of vitamin K that may contribute to neural functions in mammals.”     Conversion of Phylloquinone (Vitamin K1) into Menaquinone-4 (Vitamin K2) in Mice     Note this is telling me that there are many ways K1 is converted to K2 in the form of MK-4 in your body. Thus having a LOT of green leafy vegetables in your diet is going to help improve your K2 status, but perhaps not to sufficient status

It does appear that Vitamin K1 is converted to Vitamin K2 in your body in several ways. vitamin K2 is also made in your intestine without the K1. However for the average American this creation of K2 is USUALLY insufficient to insure enough K2 for complete good health.

My practice is to eat a LOT of the super salubrious Green Leafy Vegetables which are high in Vitamin K1; I however do not count on this to supply all of my K2. Eating an ounce or two of both Natto and Goose Liver every week is what I count on to insure my Vitamin K2.
