Fructose Protocol

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that fructose is the single leading contributor to obesity in the western diet.”   Doctor Joseph Mercola MD, Note obesity is but ONE problem caused by this deadly "food"   Fructose is the NUMBER ONE source of calories in the US.

All this sugar is about one half fructose.

Refined Sugar is 50% Fructose

Not only do we get the extremely destructive fructose from HFCS but HALF of common table sugar is fructose. Buyer beware. IMO try to eliminate ALL forms of sugar from your diet except natural fruit. Even then some of us need to go light on the high sugar fruits. Like me. Never buy pure sugar or sugar heavy products; you CAN come up with HEALTHY sugar substitutes in recipes.

     

Some Good News on Fructose

"The JAMA review then discussed how fructose contained in fruit has not shown these unfavorable effects.7 They report that even when human subjects consume huge amounts of fructose in fruit, there have been beneficial effects seen on blood pressure, lipids, insulin, and body weight. The reason is the slow digestion rate of whole fruit compared to a sugar-sweetened beverage."   Suppress Blood Sugar Without Drugs

So don't be too concerned about the fructose in FRUIT although some of us MAY need to be careful with the high fructose fruit.

     

Cancer and Fructose

" Importantly, fructose and glucose metabolism are quite different... These findings show that cancer cells can readily metabolize fructose to increase proliferation."    Cancer Research

"Doctor Otto Warburg first discovered that cancer cells have a fundamentally different energy metabolism compared to healthy cells. Malignant tumors tend to use a process where glucose is used as a fuel by the cancer cells, creating lactic acid as a byproduct. The large amount of lactic acid produced by this fermentation of glucose from cancer cells is then transported to your liver. This conversion of glucose to lactic acid generates a lower, more acidic pH in cancerous tissues as well as overall physical fatigue from lactic acid buildup.”    Doctor Joseph Mercola MD, Note here is the important connection between cancer and pH and why you MUST pay a lot of attention to your pH especially if you have cancer. Getting your pH back to a slightly basic with all the lactic acid is a PROBLEM you  MUST solve

Cancer cells feed on fructose, study finds

We have known since 1924 and Doctor Warburg's discovery of the cancer mechanism that sugar plays an important part in cancer. Now we see that fructose may be the bad guy and glucose not as bad. Please remember table sugar is half fructose and HFCS may be as much as 83% fructose.

   

Why the sugar fructose makes us sick

    

Gout and Fructose

“Women who drank two cans or more of non-diet soda a day, or 12 ounces or more of orange juice a day, were more than twice as likely to develop gout. Women who drank just one soda or 6-ounce glass of juice per day were at 74 percent and 41 percent greater risk, respectively. The culprit appears to be fructose ... [F]ructose increases levels of the chemical uric acid, which causes gout. When uric acid levels in the body get too high, the acid hardens into sharp crystals that are deposited in joints."    Journal of the American Medical Association November 10, 2010

Fructose is the leading cause of uric acid production and thus gout.

       

HFCS/Fructose is a Direct Cause of Metabolic Syndrome

“Fructose is isocaloric but not isometabolic. This means you can have the same amount of calories from fructose or glucose, fructose and protein, or fructose and fat, but the metabolic effect will be entirely different despite the identical calorie count.”   Doctor Joseph Mercola MD

When you eat 100 calories of fructose you will gain far more weight and move a step closer to metabolic syndrome than if you ate 100 grams of good fat or protein. This is because they are metabolized differently with the fructose promoting metabolic syndrome. I try to eat NO fructose.

   

Fructose PROMOTES Weight Gain

“Fructose, which is hidden in virtually every processed food, tricks your body into gaining weight by fooling your metabolism, as it turns off your body's appetite-control system. Fructose does not appropriately stimulate insulin, which in turn does not suppress ghrelin (the "hunger hormone") and doesn't stimulate leptin (the "satiety hormone"), which together result in your eating more and developing insulin resistance. Fructose also rapidly leads to weight gain and abdominal obesity ("beer belly"), decreased HDL, increased LDL, elevated triglycerides, elevated blood sugar, and high blood pressure -- i.e., classic metabolic syndrome.”   Doctor Joseph Mercola MD

There is little question IMO that fructose promotes weight gain. The evidence is there. This nation started ballooning out as HFCS was introduced.

       

Triglycerides, VLDL, Small Dense LDL, Sugar, Fructose and CVD

“Fructose is converted in the liver into fats which are transported in the blood stream via small dense LDL packets. These small dense LDL packets are associated with CVD.”   Doctor Robert Lustig MD

Folks here is ANOTHER major problem with fructose and why we MUST avoid it. Triglycerides resulting from SUGAR (table sugar is one half fructose) and simple carb consumption precede triglyceride containing VLDL. The triglycerides in VLDL is converted into the small dense forms of LDL.

The smaller dense forms of LDL packets which transport triglycerides are associated with CVD. The fewer smaller dense LDL packets you force your body to produce the better off you are. The smaller forms of LDL are easier to enter your artery wall and possibly begin the atherosclerosis process.

    

Fructose Promotes

"If you're eating a high fructose diet, which most people in America are, one of the things your liver is going to have to do is to turn that fructose into fat... and it needs cholesterol to store the fat but it can't make cholesterol while it's processing fructose... Let's put those doses of fructose into perspective. One medium banana contains about 7 grams. A 16-ounce bottle of apple juice contains about 30 grams. A slice of cake contains about 12. More than small amounts of pure Fructose can quickly harm your liver (See Liver Protection Protocol). Fructose raises triglyceride (See Triglyceride Protocol) levels a lot, and is thus a very dangerous sugar you should avoid. Fructose is known to inhibit the excretion of uric acid and thus can worsen or lead to gout (See Gout Protection Protocol) and a whole host of other arthritic like problems.

Fructose contains no beneficial enzymes (See Enzymes Protocol), vitamins, minerals or micronutrients and actually leeches them from your body.
