Omega 7 Palmitoleic Acid

Omega 7 is an Omega fatty acid that has many health benefits. Your body is able to construct Omega 7 so it is not an ESSENTIAL Fatty Acid but many of us may be  unable to make enough. Omega 7 seems to be an important method of preventing Metabolic Syndrome a precursor for much of CVD and a MAJOR health problem for many of us. Omega 7 addresses metabolic syndrome through MANY mechanisms.

Wild Salmon is a very good way to get some omega 7 without the purportedly harmful palmitic acid. I am sure palmitic acid is NOT harmful but if you wish to avoid it and still get some omega 7 Salmon is a Great way.

     

Forget about Palmitic Acid being Harmful IMO

"However, more recent investigations on the topic seem to have reconsidered the negative role of the dietary SFAs as a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and show that not only the type of fat, but also that the triglyceride structure plays a role in cholesterolaemia. “Animals exposed to carcinogens that were fed corn or soybean oil based diets had significantly more tumors than those fed a tocotrienol-rich diet of palm oil. Tocotrienol-rich palm oil did not promote chemically induced breast cancer.”     Sundram et al

Note here is the same old tripe about cholesterol being harmful and thus a marker for disease. The increased cholesterol observed after ingestion of palmitic acid is REQUIRED to digest the fat. Societies who have eaten Palms as a MAJOR component of their diets for THOUSANDS of years have almost NO CVD. Case closed for me.
