Stroke Recovery Protocol continuation

             

Vitamin C

"Ascorbate deficiency is an important underlying factor and that all mechanisms known today leading to CVD can be triggered by ascorbate deficiency. The different mechanisms of human CVD known today therefore all compensate for impaired integrity and stability of the vascular wall caused by chronically low dietary ascorbate intake. If these mechanisms overshoot, heart attack, stroke and other forms of CVD develop. "  Doctor Matthias Rath, Note ascorbate is vitamin C in it's complete form as found in nature, ascorbic acid is a component of ascorbate 

“Vitamin C is the most important antioxidant in our bodies, and increased intake of vitamin C plays the key role in preventing and reversing atherosclerosis, heart attacks and strokes.” Doctor Linus Pauling three time Nobel Prize winner, Note the politicians withheld his third prize

“My discovery of the Ice Age - vitamin deficiency - cardiovascular disease connection will eventually lead to the eradication of heart attacks, strokes and related cardiovascular diseases.” Doctor Matthias Rath MD 1990, Note what Doctor Rath is saying is that Vitamin C alone is THE factor in CVD; almost ALL of us are flirting with sub-clinical scurvy. Please get your vitamin C up to at least 3 grams/day. Remember vitamin C is a COMPLEX; ascorbic acid alone will NOT cut it IMO.

Folks there is absolutely no question about it, you NEED at least 3 grams of vitamin C/day for MANY reasons. Stroke and CVD recovery and protection are only two of the reasons.

     

Vitamin D

“Current research indicates vitamin D deficiency plays a role in causing seventeen varieties of cancer as well as heart disease, stroke, hypertension, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, depression, chronic pain, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, muscle wasting, birth defects, and periodontal disease.” Doctor John Cannell Vitamin D Council

"For more than a year, the Intermountain Medical Center research team followed 27,686 people who were 50 years of age or older with no prior history of cardiovascular disease. Researchers found that people with very low levels of vitamin D were 77% more likely to die, 45% more likely to develop coronary artery disease and 78% more likely to have a stroke than those with normal levels. They also found that participants with very low levels of vitamin D were twice as likely to suffer heart failure.”   Heart Institute  Intermountain Medical Center SLC, Note "normal levels" are very low around 30 ng/ml. If you get yours up to around 80 ng/ml IMO you will see vastly better results

"Doctor Tami Bair and Doctor Heidi May, of the Intermountain Medical Center in Utah, report yet another study showing that your risk of heart attack, stroke, congestive heart failure and death are dramatically increased by Vitamin D deficiency. In a presentation at the American heart Association meeting, they found that people with low levels (< 15 ng/ml) had a 45% increased risk for cardiovascular disease, 78% greater risk of stroke and double the risk for congestive heart failure, not to mention a 77% increased risk of death, compared to people with Vitamin D levels > 30 ng/ml. All that disease and death occurred in only 13 months of follow up for the 27,000 people in the study."

"But then, more studies are coming out showing that increased calcium intake is causing more heart attacks and strokes. That created a lot of confusion around whether calcium is safe or not. But that's the wrong question to be asking, because we'll never properly understand the health benefits of calcium or vitamin D, unless we take into consideration K2. That's what keeps the calcium in its right place."   Vitamin K2, Calcium and Vitamin D

IMO it is vitally important that when recovering from any health problem we need a very high vitamin D level; around the 80 ng/ml level. The more you learn about vitamin D the more you will come to this view point also.

   

Sunshine

The simple primal act of getting LOTS of the high noon sun on your bare “unprotected” skin in large amounts just may be the most important single thing you can do for your health. If the sun casts a shadow longer than you are tall you cannot make adequate vitamin D from the sun. You MUST take vitamin D3 at the daily rate of about 1000 IU/20 pounds of body weight.   Vitamin D Expert Doctor Holick’s Excellent Entertaining Amusing Video Vitamin D Presentation

One thing I'm quite sure of is that cholesterol sulfate is highly protective against bacterial and virus invasions. That's why sun exposure protects you from infection. It strengthens your immune system. That cholesterol sulfate is incredibly important to immunity."   Doctor Stephanie Seneff, PhD

"In this way [sun exposure], your skin will produce cholesterol sulfate, which will then flow freely through the blood—not packaged up inside LDL—and therefore your liver doesn't have to make so much LDL. So the LDL goes down. In fact... there is a complete inverse relationship between sunlight and cardiovascular disease – the more sunlight, the less cardiovascular disease."   Doctor Stephanie Seneff PhD

You must have vitamin D IMO to completely recover from your stroke. You may also need the sun. The sun supplies more than just vitamin D. Please thoroughly explore the sunshine protocol.

If it is winter and you cannot make good vitamin D from the sun I would certainly invest in a good sunlamp and USE it.

Yes do all this in addition to getting your vitamin D levels up to at least 80 ng/ml even if it takes Vitamin D3 supplements to do it.

    

Cholesterol

"Stroke mortality is lowest at cholesterol levels between 180 and 200. Mortality increases substantially below 180 and above 240. Mortality is highest below 160 and above 300. Although cholesterol itself does not cause stroke, a diet high in polyunsaturated fat and low in antioxidants can make LDL-cholesterol within the blood vulnerable to oxidation. Oxidized LDL can contribute to the development of stroke.  High blood pressure is a far more important contributor to stroke than high or low cholesterol.”   Cholesterol and Stroke  

"Diets low in fat or animal products should not be used to lower cholesterol for the prevention of ischemic stroke. The available data clearly indicate that these foods are associated with a decreased risk, not an increased risk, of this type of stroke.17 Since carbohydrate intake is associated with atherosclerosis of the large arteries within the brain,16 eating lower amounts of carbohydrates would be a wiser dietary modification."   Cholesterol and Stroke

Your body will be using large amounts of cholesterol to repair your stroke damage. Eggs are an excellent source of cholesterol for seniors especially; they contain so many things we need.

     

Potassium

NO ONE who ate more than 3500 mg of potassium a day died of a stroke.

“A study of 859 people over the age of 50 in southern California showed eating just one extra daily serving of potassium rich food lowered the risk of a stroke by 40%. NO ONE who ate more than 3500 mg of potassium a day died of a stroke. The researchers concluded that for every 400 mg of daily potassium consumed the risk of stroke dropped 40%.”  Note it’s not hard at all to eat 10,000 – 15,000 mg of potassium a day if you eat fresh fruits and vegetables

“Too little potassium leads to sodium retention, which over time may trigger HBP.” G. Gobal Krishna MD Temple University , Note HBP is the major stroke risk factor

Folks how much simpler can it be. EAT POTASSIUM containing raw fruits and vegetables!

If you go to the potassium protocol and read all the quotes you will quickly see lack of potassium is a major cause of both stroke and HBP the major stroke risk factor. Your days of eating packaged, boxed and bagged junk are over.

It is very easy to get LOTS and LOTS of potassium in your diet. Just EAT FRESH UNCOOKED fruit and vegetables. Get your potassium up to over 10,000 mg/day IMO. The more I think about this the stronger my conviction becomes. Note high potassium also protects you against the number one stroke risk factor HBP.

  

Magnesium

Magnesium chloride (See Magnesium Chloride Oil Protocol) has several advantages over other neuroprotective agents currently available or in development. A gallon and a half of magnesium chloride a year, at a maximum cost of 180 dollars, would do more to prevent strokes safely, (heart attacks, and probably cancer if combined with selenium) without side effects, than any other single medicine. And a gallon, used transdermally after a stroke, over a two or three month period, will reduce disability; and when combined with acupuncture and other nutritional and herbal interventions presents us with the treatment of choice of the International Medical Veritas Association.

       

Homocysteine

Ginkgo

“A Metastudy of 40 clinical trials concluded. Positive results have been reported for ginkgo biloba extracts in the treatment of cerebral insufficiency.” Kleijnen et al, Note cerebral insufficiency is a pre stroke condition

"After the reperfusion event the mice they pretreated with ginkgo had approximately 50% less dead tissue than untreated animals. In the mice they treated after the occlusion, there was also a significant reduction in stroke volume. My suggestion is that if you have vascular disease, consider taking up to 120 mg of ginkgo twice daily.” Doctor Robert Rowen MD , Note a reperfusion event follows an interruption of the blood supply which can occur with heart or stroke problems

“Mice given ginkgo extract five minutes after a stroke had 60% less brain damage the next day than mice who never received the ginkgo. Mice given ginkgo extract 4.5 hours after a stroke had 30% less damage.” Saleem et al

Ginkgo appears to be especially suited for a stroke recovery supplement.

    

Vinpocetine

"A study in the Journal of Neurological Sciences found that in people suffering from limited stroke damage, vinpocetine had an almost magical healing effect. It directed blood right to the affected areas." Vas et al

"Vinpocetine may protect against some of the damage related to ischemic stroke. Two studies reveal that vinpocetine was able to prevent release of potentially toxic glutamate and free radicals in the brain."   Life Extension

Vinpocetine is proving to be a great tonic for seniors.

    

Coffee

"Dr Larsson and her colleagues found a 22-25 percent lower adjusted risk of total stroke, cerebral infarction, and subarachnoid hemorrhage among women who drank at least one cup of coffee per day compared with those who consumed less. Drinking more than one to two cups of coffee was not associated with significantly greater benefit. The dietary questionnaires completed by the participants did not differentiate between regular or decaffeinated coffee, however, the authors note that decaffeinated coffee consumption is uncommon in Sweden."   Study finds coffee drinkers have fewer strokes ,Note other studies imply it is NOT the caffeine providing the benefits. I drink decaf.

Nice to get some good news once and awhile. Coffee is turning out to be quite salubrious. Just lay off the caffeine, sugar and  un-raw milk.

Good for Stroke Protection

“A study of 859 people over the age of 50 in southern California showed eating just one extra daily serving of potassium rich food lowered the risk of a stroke by 40%. NO ONE who ate more than 3500 mg of potassium a day died of a stroke. The researchers concluded that for every 400 mg of daily potassium consumed the risk of stroke dropped 40%.”  Note a large helping of most vegetables contains thousands of mgs of potassium

"Men who experienced strokes tended to be older and had higher systolic blood pressure, which increases stroke risk. Those whose lycopene levels were among the top 25% of participants had a 59% lower adjusted risk of ischemic stroke and a 55% lower risk of any stroke over follow-up in comparison with men whose lycopene levels were among the lowest fourth."   Increased Lycopene Levels Associated with Lower Risk of Stroke . Note pounds of cooked carrots/week will not only protect your arteries but your old eyes also

  • Exercise

  • DIET SOFT DRINKS   Completely Eliminate "Soft Drinks"

  • Vitamin C    At least 3 grams/day

  • Vitamin D    At least 80 ng/ml from sun if possible

  • Vitamin E

  • Vitamin K2

  • Sunshine    Hours/day if possible

  • Magnesium

  • Potassium

  

 

Conclusion: There is so much you can and should do after your stroke it should keep you quite busy. Forget the poor statistics YOU can live a long healthy life. IMO the reason so many have trouble and poor health post stroke is the same reason for the stroke a simple Lack of Vitamin C. If you take the time to become very knowledgeable about vitamin C and the physiology of strokes you will be well on your way to a life full of pleasure and health. Good luck.

Remember most of your EATING should have to do with strokes and CVD; well perhaps a little cancer also; LOL.
