“Since triglyceride elevation is almost universally related to dietary intake of sugar (including grains). It is one of the most easy and straightforward problems to correct with proper diet alone. The decline is dramatic and in the matter of weeks if the proper low glycemic low grain anti-aging diet is followed. Start with eliminating all grain products from your evening meal. This includes wheat, rye, barley, potato, bread, and rice. Substitute with more above the grounds vegetables, eggs (raw is best, and try not to cook the yoke too well) , unroasted nuts. Oils are acceptable as long as not exposed to high heat. Use virgin olive oil for salads and light stir fry, butter for high heat frying, and coconut oil for deep frying (which should be kept to a minimum). Triglycerides are Fat

"Elevated triglycerides in the blood have been positively linked to proneness to heart disease, but these triglycerides do not come directly from dietary fats; they are made in the liver from any excess sugars that have not been used for energy."   Sally Fallon

Triglycerides consist of three fat molecules connected to a glycerol backbone. The three fats can be any type of body fats including EFAs. Triglycerides are the main form of energy storage for most living organisms. Most of our stored fat consists of triglycerides. Since triglycerides often carry EFAs we must provide a high level of fat soluble antioxidants to protect them from oxidation.

Triglycerides like all fat in your body travel in packets through your blood stream,

Triglycerides, like cholesterol, should not be branded as bad. Triglycerides serve as your body’s reserve of EFAs among other good things. They are necessary for life and part of your body's healthy functioning. Triglycerides are obtained from your intestines during the digestion of fats. Triglycerides are also made in your liver from any excess sugars that have not been used for energy or stored in your muscle tissue. Your body then transports the Triglycerides via your blood stream to their storage site in your body’s fat cells.

So we see our bitter enemy sugar raise its ugly head. Perhaps it is NOT the triglycerides that are our problem; it is excess triglycerides especially those made in our livers from SUGAR!

In the diagram above we see the HDL 3 packet exchanging triglyceride fats, including cholesterol, with  LDL packets. When you eat sugar and simple carbs your liver creates a lot of VLDL packets to pass the triglycerides for fat storage.  Excess triglyceride fats are eventually passed to the HDL 2 packet and back into the liver for disposition. This system quickly gets overloaded if you are eating too much sugar and simple carbs.

This system does not work well if your triglycerides get too high. Your triglycerides get high when you eat SUGAR and simple carbs which are quickly converted to SUGAR. When our body was designed there was no refined sugar, simple carbs, HFCS and all the other man made crap we eat today. Above we see some of the packets your body uses to transport the fat cholesterol. We do not see the liver produced nascent HDL pathway and other things.

This system becomes very inefficient if your triglycerides get too high; your body was designed when it was not possible to have high triglycerides. Your triglycerides get high when you eat SUGAR and simple carbs which are quickly converted to SUGAR. Your body will not allow all this sugar in its blood stream so it converts this sugar to fat and ships it to storage in triglyceride packets.

When our body was designed there was no refined sugar, simple carbs, HFCS and all the other man made crap we eat today. The Problem with Triglycerides

It is very obvious therefore that the problem with triglycerides is NOT the triglycerides themselves but the manufacture of EXCESS triglycerides in the liver, caused by the ingestion of man made sugar, sugar like man made refined simple carbs and too much food. These liver manufactured triglycerides must then be transported by the blood stream. The result is often too many oxidized triglycerides in the blood stream at a given moment.

High triglycerides may also indicate an active infection (often a root canal) somewhere in your body. If you have high triglycerides get a CRP test to check for this possible infection and work to eliminate it.

High Triglyceride blood levels are a concern and are usually a byproduct of the consumption of excess sugar, foods quickly converted to sugar and some types of fat (See Fat Protocol). High triglyceride blood levels usually mean your diet is supplying too many sugars or near sugars for your body to use or store expeditiously. This is not a good situation.

The obvious answer is to lay off the sugar refined carbs and all its brethren high on the GI index and not overeat. Doctor Michael Lam MD says a diet low on the glycemic index with no grains or sugar will bring down most cases of high triglycerides in a few months.

    

How not eating good fat can harm

Here is yet another case where failing to eat good fats hurts you. Instead of good fat you eat sugar which your body converts to triglycerides a FAT. Please save your body some work and eat the good fats. Your body cannot store sugar and will convert sugar to fat for storage.

    

High blood triglyceride levels are a serious health risk factor and may cause other problems including putting on a dangerous beer gut, a proven cause of MANY serious problems.  High blood Triglycerides are not only an indicator of potential heart problems but also an independent cause. Triglycerides are Converted into the Dangerous forms of LDL

Through a somewhat complicated mechanism triglycerides can be indirectly converted in your blood stream into the dangerous small dense form of LDL. These forms of LDL are better able to enter your arterial wall through a seam or hole a larger LDL particle is too large to enter. This increases your odds of having oxidized LDL and thus arterial plaque. IMO this mechanism may explain much of CVD and thus lowering your high triglycerides is a VERY important step to preventing CVD.
