Radishes and radish juice can be quite beneficial for your thyroid and body. A sulphur compound found in the radish is a regulator of thyroxine and calcitonin (a peptide hormone). When enough of this sulphur compound is circulating in your bloodstream, your thyroid is less apt to over or under-produce these hormones. You want these radish goodies circulating CONTINUOUSLY in your blood. Eating a single radish a day, or more if you are worried about cancer or detoxification, would seem prudent.
The radish greens are also quite salubrious and should be eaten on the day of purchase as they go bad quickly.
This simple little pink food should be in EVERY salad IMO.
The Horseradish can be considered IMO a very large radish in many respects with a few unique benefits thrown in to boot. Horseradish sure packs a pungent punch so you must adjust the amount.
Caution: Since radishes are goitergens which NORMALLY depress the thyroid, IMO watch this one carefully if it does not seem to be working there are MANY other methods to improve your thyroid function. Cooking the radish will lessen its goitergenic properties and SHOULD be done IMO if required.
