“Unlike plant seed oils (like sesame oil) that are no longer protected by their whole food structure, seeds themselves (including sesame seeds) are fairly stable to relatively low heats. I would not hesitate to add high-quality, preferably organically grown, sesame seeds to your bread recipe. It is important, of course, to chew your bread and seeds well because non-chewed, intact sesame seeds can often be excreted without undergoing further digestion or absorption and therefore not delivering most of their health benefits.”   George Mateljan WHF

“There is a major difference between the calcium content of hulled versus unhulled sesame seeds. When the hulls remain on the seeds, one tablespoon of sesame seeds will contains about 88 milligrams of calcium. When the hulls are removed, this same tablespoon will contain about 5-10 milligrams (about 90-95% less). Most of the calcium in the hulls is calcium oxalate, which may be less absorbable.”   WHF, Note in either case the hulls are excellent fiber

Raw Sesame Seed (See Nut and Seed Protocol) is a great food.  Sesame Seed provides lignans which carry Vitamin E. throughout your body thus increasing your tissue vitamin E levels for a given ingestion of vitamin E. Sesame Seeds are one of the very best natural methods of lowering HBP. This is a great reason to have sesame most days.

If you are having any problems with High Blood Pressure I strongly recommend adding a good amount of Sesame Seeds to your daily diet. I have had good results eating two or three tablespoons of sesame seeds daily.

        

Sesame and Flax Seeds supply Vitamin E and it's Transport

Flax seed See Flax Seed Protocol and Sesame seed provides lignans which carry vitamin E throughout your body thus increasing your tissue vitamin E levels for a given ingestion of vitamin E. Most seeds are a good source of all eight vitamin E components. Eat your Seeds!

     

Sesame Seeds and GLA

"Because GLA obtained from dietary sources is more likely to convert to prostaglandin E1. Those who take supplements like borage oil should make sure the borage oil also contains at least 10 mg of standardized sesame lignans."   Life Extension, Note I just eat a table spoon of raw sesame seeds with my GLA supplements.

You do not want the conversion of GLA foods or supplements into the inflammatory prostaglandin E1. So taking some sesame seeds with these GLA containing things is required IMO.

     

Vitamin B17, Amygdalin Found in Sesame Seeds  

Amygdalin, often referred to as vitamin B17, is found in usually small amounts in over 1000 foods including cherry pits  as well as apricot, peach, plum and prune pits and apple seeds. Sesame seeds are rich in amygdalin. As you will see vitamin B17 is one vitamin you do not want to be without if you wish to avoid cancer.
