Animal Liver Protocol

     

“Rats fed a basic diet fortified with 11 vitamins swam for an average 13.3 minutes before giving up. The second group, which had the added fortifications of B vitamins, swam for an average of 13.4 minutes. Of the last group of rats, the ones receiving liver, three swam for 63, 83 and 87 minutes. The other nine rats in this group were still swimming vigorously at the end of two hours when the test was terminated. Something in the liver had prevented them from becoming exhausted. The liver of an animal is an especially nutritious food

It contains more nutrients, ounce for ounce, than any other food. As always you want the animal to have eaten a healthy natural diet NOT feed grains. The liver eliminates toxins and is not a storage organ for toxins but it is a storage organ for many important nutrients (vitamins A, D, E, K, B12, B6, B5, and folic acid, and minerals such as selenium, zinc, copper and iron).

Animal liver contains so much Vitamin B12 that some is absorbed even with inadequate intrinsic factor. Unless you are an Arctic explorer, it is very difficult to develop vitamin A toxicity from liver. I have often eaten two pounds of liver in two days and felt GREAT. In fact when feeling “run down” often a pound of liver will pick me right up. I usually eat my liver with a little Betaine (See Betaine Protocol) and digestive enzymes (See Digestive Enzymes Protocol) to assure stomach acid and its proper digestion.

Getting CoQ10 (See CoQ10 Protocol) from your diet is difficult unless you eat a good amount of meat.  CoQ10 concentrates in your energy-guzzling organs like your brain, heart, kidneys and liver. Well it does the same thing in animals - it concentrates in their internal organs.

When I was a boy back in the 1940s we had liver once a week and my mother made sure we ate it! God bless her. She knew something it has taken me many decades to learn. I try to eat at least a pound or two of chicken liver a month. A quarter to half a pound a week, just like my mother fed me is not a bad guideline. If you are lacking in energy or feeling run-down try a pound or two a week for awhile.

If you eat beef liver often you may need to take supplemental zinc (See Zinc Protocol), as the ratio of copper (See Copper Protocol) to zinc in beef liver is wrong. The ideal ratio is ten zinc for each copper. In beef liver the ratio is about three COPPER for each zinc. http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts-C00001-01c20ty.html Over the long run eating only beef liver may throw your zinc-copper ratio out of balance resulting in LOTS of difficult to diagnose problems. OTOH if you are low in copper it’s the way to go.

  

Chicken Liver
