How to protect your body from the sun without suntan lotion and other gunk

The sun is capable of doing damage to your body. This damage can be gauged by the redness of your skin during and after exposure to the sun. The more red your skin the more sun has penetrated deeply and caused free radical damage. Avoid this skin redness and damage by slowly acquiring a TAN in the spring before the sun becomes strong. Get out of the sun or cover up before or as soon as your skin gets red. As your tan builds and the sun increases in intensity you will find you can spend many HOURS in the strong summer sun without your skin reddening.

Did Suntan Lotion Prevent or Promote Melanoma?

"Skin cancer, blamed on sunshine, is not caused by the sun. It is caused by trans fats from vegetable oils and margarine and other toxins stored in the skin. Skin cancer is often blamed on the sun but the evidence certainly does not support this. We know CMM the serious, often deadly type of skin cancer is PREVENTED by sun exposure. Minor skin cancers are often IMO caused by the denatured omega 6 found in junk food and supermarket oils.

“In the case of skin health, lutein, zeaxanthin, and other carotenoids appear to be depleted in the skin under conditions of prolonged UV light exposure. Skin exposure to UV rays generates reactive oxygen species, inflammation in skin cells, and erythema. “Our recommendation, this is based on work in England and Norway, and the United States, that the optimal time to be in the sun for vitamin D production is near to solar noon as possible. That would be between say 10:00am and 2:00pm. The reason is two-fold. First of all, you need a shorter exposure time because the UVB is more intense. Now, the second reason is that when the sun goes down towards the horizon, the UVB is filtered out much more than the UVA. And it turns out that the long wave of ultraviolet called UVA, which runs from about 320 to 400 nanometers, is highly correlated with melanoma -- where the UVB is the one that produces the vitamin D, and that’s from 290 to 315 nanometers,” Doctor William Grant Vitamin D Expert

 “New research shows that to get an optimal vitamin D supplement from the sun at a minimal risk of getting cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM), the best time of sun exposure is noon. That means that common health recommendations given by authorities in many countries -- that sun exposure should be avoided for three to five hours around noon and postponed to the afternoon -- could be wrong and may even promote CMM. Atopic Dermatitis involves a staph infection running out of control. Where have we seen this before? Why with MRSA. Vitamin D is once again the answer. IMO get YOURS up to 100 ng/ml and you may see an improvement you may not now believe possible. Zinc Oxide Skin Cream

I use zinc oxide as a sun block. A+D makes a very good zinc oxide cream designed for diaper rash. Besides acting as a sun block it comfortably moisturizes your skin and smoothes out colored splotches on your skin. When done with its sun block function just rub it into your skin; no clean up. Be sure to buy a tube for your baby also LOL.

"Skin surface lipids (SSL), a very complex mixture of sebum mixed to small amounts of epidermal lipids, mantle the human epidermis, thus representing the outermost protection of the body against exogenous oxidative insults. The present work is a systematic and quantitative analysis of upper-chest SSL and their content in antioxidants in 100 healthy volunteers. Squalene, vitamin E (vit. E) and Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) were found to increase from childhood to maturity to decrease again significantly in old age. Vitamin E and CoQ10 were the only known lipophilic antioxidants present in SSL. In spite of their low levels they were found to synergically inhibit the UV induced depletion of squalene, cholesterol and of unsaturated fatty acids of SSL. In fact, exposure of SSL to increasing amounts of UV irradiation led preferentially to lowering of the levels of vit. E and CoQ10. Four minimal erythema dose (MED) (5.6J/cm2) were able to deplete 84% vit. E and 70% ubiquinone, and only 13% squalene. Diunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids as well as cholesterol were unaffected even following 10 MED UV exposures, which produced a 26% loss of squalene. The same UV dose when applied in the absence of vit. Skin Protection Effects Of Vitamin E

    

I make a vitamin C skin cream by mixing the components of vitamin C, D and E with coconut and olive oil. I apply it at night. There is a lot of evidence topically applied vitamin C is very efficient at repairing and rejuvenating your skin. Mix amounts of the areola and the other powdered ingredients with enough coconut saturated fat to make a consistent paste; add a little olive oil for spread ability.

You will need a little heat to mix; I use a double boiler. Just remember you will denature the vitamin C if you heat it above 130 F.  Saturated fat becomes a liquid somewhat above 90 F; try to keep your mixture below this. On hot summer days this mixture becomes a liquid and must be continuously mixed as you introduce refrigeration. I keep mine in the fridge on hot days.

Your body heat will turn this paste into a pleasant feeling liquid when applied to your skin.
