The Paleo Diet requires LOTS of good fats. Palm Oil is a very good therapeutic fat that can provide the good fat calories the Paleo Diet requires. Palm Oil supplies the vital vitamin E component the tocotrienols and as such IMO should be an important component of your diet. The paleo diet should tend to contain a lot of the Omega EFAs which require a lot of vitamin E to avoid oxidation. Palm Oil supplies this vital fat soluble anti-oxidation protection for your paleo EFA fats.

Whole Food Plant Based Diet

The Whole Food Plant Based Diet can be viewed as a subset of the Paleo Diet. At least that is the way I view it. I do not eat too much commercial meat mainly because I have trouble getting good grass fed meat. Much of my diet consists of fatty ocean fish, good fats, and whole organic mostly raw plants and fruits. Paleo and Whole Food go well together as long as the whole food existed 50,000 years ago. GMO and Chemicals need not apply.

I like this video by Doctor Lim but he misses a couple of key points. Carbs are not bad; SIMPLE CARBS are usually not good for you. Eat complex carbs; green leafy vegetables are an excellent example. The Ketogenic Diet is a special purpose disease targeted diet. Most importantly Doctor Lim seems to miss the point of the Paleo Diet. DONT EAT CRAP, just as our ancestors did not eat crap.

Back in the 1970s when I believed fat was bad I bought a 1/4 of a grass fed beef. The fat tasted so GOOD I knew it was good and ate all of it. That beef changed my view of GOOD fat. Doctor Lim will figure out the purpose of good fat sooner or later. Try this fat test; eat a teaspoon of butter when hungry; how does it taste; observe the after taste?. Later also when hungry eat a teaspoon of margarine; how does it taste; observe the after taste?

Doctor Lim is giving us the real story of BIG Medicine INC. Doctors receive NO nutritional training in Medical School. DRUGS are virtually their only treatment modality as they watch their patients do poorer and poorer; they finally have legs amputated and DIE. He is working with his patients on something much more important than toxic drugs, NUTRITION. We need a LOT more nutrition aware doctors like Doctor Lim.

      

Cave Man Diets Eliminate or greatly reduce

“During the Paleolithic period, many thousands of years ago, people ate primarily vegetables, fruit, nuts, roots and meat—and a wide variety of it. Today, these staples have been largely replaced with refined sugar, high fructose corn syrup, cereal, bread, potatoes and pasteurized milk products… and a much narrower selection of fruits, vegetables, roots and nuts. While we may consider ourselves to be at the pinnacle of human development, our modern food manufacturing processes have not created a race of super-humans in possession of great health and longevity. Quite the contrary, humans today suffer more chronic and debilitating diseases than ever before. And there can be little doubt that our food choices play a major role in this development.”     Doctor Joseph Mercola MD

“It may surprise you to learn that many of the foods recommended on a Paleo or whole foods diet contain trans fats as well. Dairy fat and meats from grass eating “ruminant” animals contain significant amounts of trans fatty acids, and grass-fed animals actually have higher levels of these trans fats than grain fed animals. (1) In fact, your grass-fed steak contains about 0.5g-1.4g of trans fat per ounce (28.3g) of total fat. (2)”   Can Some Trans Fats Be Healthy? , Note YES they can, big surprise here please read the article, As always who made the healthy trans fats? NOT MAN.

  • MAN-MADE-CRAP   if God did not make it Don't eat it
  • GMO CRAP
  • Processed Foods   especially processed fats, oils, grains and sugars
  • Fast Foods   processed fats, oils, grains and sugars
  • Junk Food
  • Chemicals in Foods
  • Cooked Foods   as much as possible, some foods must be cooked
  • Sugar    especially table sugar, fructose
  • Simple Carbs
  • Cereal Grains   especially commercial wheat even as a "whole grain"
  • Breads and flour products
  • Beans   soak overnight and cook 24 hours or longer if eaten
  • White Potatoes    Yams, Sweet Potatoes OK
  • Milk   raw organic is OK IMO, especially fermented
  • Dairy    raw organic is OK IMO, especially fermented
  • Sunshine Deficiency   LIVE naked (or close to it) in the sun with NO chemicals on your skin

I believe a few non-wheat, non/low-gluten, fermented whole grains are OK unless you are diabetic or pre-diabetic. Grain (highly selected) sprouts are a vegetable and IMO the way to eat grains. I eat a lot of butter, coconut Oil, palm oil, olive oil, and other good fats, eggs, fatty ocean fish, raw milk and raw goat cheese when I can get it and some few questionable items. So you must use some common sense here but on the whole I find I would have no trouble moving back into the cave.

The Ketogenic Diet

The paleo diet with minor personal modifications can be a LIFETIME diet. It is for me.

If you start with a Paleo Diet and eliminate most carbs even complex carbs; if you eliminate all but a little protein you are left with the Ketogenic Diet. The Ketogenic Diet is basically a fast with a few calories of good fat and a little protien. A strict Ketogenic Diet is intended to be followed for a few months at most as you fight and defeat a DISEASE.

I have found fasting to be perhaps my most important health TOOL. If you review the Ketogenic Diet you will see all the powerful mechanisms by which it can treat and defeat so many diseases.

At last I see the tie ins between Fasting, Diet, Disease and Health. Every time you go on a fast, even a short fast you are improving your health. Shifting your metabolism to ketogenic even for a short while is improving your health. Please think about it and DO IT.

My diet had naturally evolved into a mostly paleo diet over the decades as I eliminated known bad, mostly man made, foods. I do find the Paleo Concept an ideal way to think about your body, food and eating.
